This site documents the design and building of three "teardrop" style camping trailers. Our three small trailers are a contemporary approach to the classic designs, built in the spirit of the original teardrops of the 1930's through 1950's.

45. (A) Utility box
Joe found this utility box on sale at Gebo's for $99. He thought about painting it silver or blue, but we all kind of like the way it matches the black trailer frame and shell trim.
You guys have done the best job yhat I have seen on building your trailers. I am a retired vocational education teacher and plan on starting my trailer in the next week or so. I have a daughter in San Antonio that I am going to visit for a few days and then time to get started. I wish that I were closer so I could come see your work. I am about 50 miles south of Houston (West Columbia). I have some questions that I would love to ask like where did you get your trim, the quality of the trim, you cabin door hinges, etc. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the nice note. We got the torpedo door hinges from Austin Hardware (online) and the trim from a local trailer supply store. The trim is high quality, and we've become experts on bending it to shape.
We would be glad to help you anytime. To bad you’re on the other side of Texas. When you get your TD trailer finished we can meet in the middle of this great State. Are you a member on the Teardrops & Tiny Trailers forum? If you are we can private message through that forum. My username is Garland. If you ever find your way to the Panhandle, the better side of this state, drop by and say howdy.
